Saxophonist - Biography

Paul is a very accomplished saxophonist. He plays tenor and soprano sax across a variety of genres in many bands as well as in a solo setup. He is based in South-East London.

Born in 1977, Paul began his musical journey by learning the clarinet aged 10, switching to the tenor sax at 16. He performed his first professional gig that same year playing in a trad. jazz band touring local pubs as well as playing in various school bands. During this time he performed at many venues including the Royal Festival Hall.

While studying at University, Paul's playing and experience progressed further performing for many functions at venues such as the International Conference Centre and the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. There were also many international performances in countries such as Spain, Germany and the Czech Republic.

After finishing University, Paul moved back to London and has since played in many top venues throughout the UK, such as the Roundhouse, the Four Seasons, The Savoy, and The Hilton in London, and has also performed extensively abroad, including performing in Athens for the Greek New Year celebrations, and for the launch ceremony of a Cruise Ship alongside acts including Andrea Bocelli and KT Tunstall.

Currently Paul is the keyboard/sax player for the Adam Chandler Band and the swing band Rhythm in Blues, where he can be seen effortlessly switching between sax and keys throughout the night. He also plays regularly with the corporate function band the AB All Stars, he heads up the jazz quartet Groovin' High, and also plays in a solo or duo setup playing with backing tracks. He plays many different functions including corporate events, weddings, anniversaries, showcases and parties, demonstrating his versitility with many styles including Jazz, Motown, Disco, Funk, Swing, Pop and many more.

Paul plays a Selmer Reference 54 Tenor Saxophone with a Dave Guardala 'Crescent' mouthpiece, a Selmer Series III Soprano Saxophone with a Bari Hawk Mark II mouthpiece, and an Akai EWI4000S wind synth.
